KITANO Takeshi: World-renowned film director and actor. Beat Takeshi: Television presenter, comedian. Beat Takeshi KITANO (b. 1947) is singular personality as an artist. His much talked about solo exhibition held at the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain in the spring of 2010 now makes a triumphant return to Japan.
In addition to paintings, the exhibition features colourful "animal vases" made in Venice, large-scale objets, installations with visitor participation—all works that displayed his novel creativity and strange sense of humor. He often describes himself as " the painter's kid," and says that the palette of those colour-filled works "was the influence of my father's job as a house painter." We hope you will revel in this fun-filled world of Beat Takeshi KITANO.
